Limited edition 2006
The first edition of this CD was completed in August 2005 and sold in
September.
This edition was made to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the
Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers on 7th July 2006.
It has more historical information and many updates (details listed below).
Purchasing information can be found on another page.
All pages have the date of last update at the bottom of the page. There are
too many to list in detail here.
In a collaboration with the on-line Dove we have reconciled our two
sets of data so that we agree on the ringable state of the bells in all towers.
- Minor changes:
- editorial changes in the layout which do not affect the content
- details of ringing times, church facilities etc.
- the bell weights of North Bucks were taken from the North Bucks
website in December 2003 where some pages listed both measured weights
of bells and weights calculated from geometrical measurements.
The single weight listed on this CD now distinguishes correctly between
these two weights.
- Towers augmented or restored, the name is followed by the Branch in ():
- Abingdon, St Helen’s (ONB).
- Asthall, (Chipping Norton)
- Childrey, (ONB)
- Shabbington, (South Oxon)
- Towers whose bells have changed state
- changing from ringable to unringable and vice-versa.
- changes from full circle ringing to chimes
A category of ‘N’ meaning unknown has been
introduced for those towers where the bells have not been rung recently.
These are shown on the maps as red solid circles.
- Bell weights have been added to more Buckinghamshire towers; only
9 towers have no information on bell weights, out of 452.
