Death of Harry Wells
Harry died on 5th January 2012. There is to be a memorial service in Harwell
Church on Friday 20th January at 2.30pm with a private cremation beforehand.
Harry was Harwell Tower captain from 1978 to 1982,

Death of Doug Jordan
There will be a
Thanksgiving service for the life of Doug Jordan at St Matthews,
Harwell, at 2pm on
Wednesday, 27th May 2009. There will be open ringing from 1:00pm, with a
service touch at 1:50pm.
Doug Jordan, tower captain here for many years died suddenly on
10 May 2009.
He had been a ringer in Harwell for over 65 years when he reached the age of
80 in November 2002; then he resigned as tower captain but remained a church
warden until his death, officiating with his usual cheerfulness at a wedding
on 9 May.
Harwell Bell rope Pulley Guides
Following the belfry inspection in March, 'Whites of Appleton' told us that
the bell rope pulley wheels need to be replaced; the cost will be about £2000.
Harwell ringers are planning fundraising events:
- An Open Tower Day Saturday 30th May between 2 and 4.30pm.
Cream teas will be available and the church decorated for Pentecost.
- A Sponsored quarter peal will be attempted on Sunday 7th June,
Sponsorship forms will be available or donations may be gievn on the day.
