RISCOS programs
- !Family originally maintained by Dennis Howe,
currently being updated by Martin ?, a test version can be downloaded from
http://www.pennine.demon.co.uk/family/downloads.htm
- Rosemary Miskin has some utilities for checking GEDCOM files, including
ReadGed, GedWeb and CheckGed on her website at
http://www.argonet.co.uk/users/miskin
- Hilary Phillips has a utility
GedcomWeb to
convert a GEDCOM file into 2 HTML files; one makes an index to all the names in
your GEDCOM file in alphabetical order of surname and can be read by almost any browser, the other gives an interactive layout of a type of family tree; it needs support for Javascript, only available in the RISCOS browser, Oregano.
- Ancestor+
A little history: Graham Crow wrote Ancestry I, which was marketed by Minerva
in the days of the Arthur Operating System; Minerva later sold Ancestry II
an entirely different Desktop program for RISCOS, but it was very expensive
and is no longer sold. Meanwhile Graham Crow wrote his own RISCOS version
which he called Ancestry, sadly he died suddenly before he could finish it.
This program, now marketed as Ancestor+, has been adapted and improved by
David Holden of APDL, details at
http://www.apdl.co.uk/ancest.htm, price to a new user about £60, look on
the web site for prices for upgrades from Ancestry I and Ancestry II
- Roots
